Easy Chocolate Lasagna

The beauty of chocolate lasagna lies in its layers. Much like its savory counterpart, it’s all about the layers coming together to create a symphony of flavors. The base layer is typically made of crushed chocolate cookies, forming a deliciously crunchy crust. You can use any chocolate cookie you like—Oreos work like a charm, but feel free to experiment with different varieties to suit your taste.

Next comes a smooth and creamy layer of pudding. This layer provides the richness and velvety texture that will make your taste buds sing. You can either make your own chocolate mousse from scratch or use a high-quality store-bought version. Just make sure it’s deeply chocolatey and luxuriously smooth.

Assembling a chocolate lasagna is a breeze. Just layer each component in a deep dish or a baking pan, starting with the cookie crust and ending with crushed cookies on top. Pop it in the refrigerator for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld together and the dessert to set. Once chilled, slice it into squares, and voila! You have a dessert that looks as impressive as it tastes.

Chilling Time: 4 hours
Total: 4 hours 30 minutes
Servings: 12

Ingredients

Crust:

  • 20 cookies Oreos, 1/2 the package
  • ¼ cup butter, unsalted, melted

Vanilla Layer:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

  • Crushed Oreos, amount to your preference, I used the rest of the package

Instructions

Crust:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they are fine crumbs.
  • Pour in the melted butter and pulse again until the mixture is well combined.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5-10 minutes, or until the crust is set.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.

Vanilla Layer:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the room temperature cream cheese and butter until smooth and well incorporated.
  • Add the granulated sugar and the tub of Cool Whip to the cream cheese mixture, and continue to beat until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and milk until the mixture thickens.

  • Once the Oreo crust has cooled, pour the cream cheese and pudding mixture over it, spreading evenly.

  • Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving, allowing the flavors to meld and the layers to set.

Notes

  • Make sure your dairy products are at room temperature before mixing to ensure a smoother, more homogenous mixture.
  • You can use an electric hand mixer or stand mixer for better results when beating the ingredients together.
  • You may use either regular or Double Stuffed Oreos based on your preference.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, you can place the Oreos in a ziplock bag and crush them using a rolling pin. For a richer taste, consider using full-fat milk or cream for the pudding.
  • If you want a more elaborate look, you could use a piping bag to apply the Cool Whip topping.
  • Always let the dessert rest in the fridge before serving; this will help the layers to set and the flavors to deepen.
  • This dessert can be made a day ahead, making it a great option for parties or gatherings.
