    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    1. Balanced Flavor Profile: Too much cinnamon can overpower the sweetness, and too much sugar can drown out the warmth and spiciness of cinnamon.
    2. Texture: A good blend ensures that you have an even mix that coats your food uniformly without clumping.
    3. Versatility: A perfect ratio can complement a variety of dishes without overpowering them.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar?

Yes, you can substitute brown sugar for granulated sugar to make a slightly different version of cinnamon sugar with a deeper, caramel-like flavor.

How long does homemade cinnamon sugar last?

When stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, homemade cinnamon sugar can last for several months. However, it’s best when used within a few weeks for optimal flavor.

Can I use this cinnamon sugar for baking?

Absolutely! This cinnamon sugar can be used as a topping for baked goods like muffins, coffee cakes, and cinnamon rolls, or as a filling for pastries.

Can I adjust the sweetness of cinnamon sugar?

Yes, you can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to the mixture, depending on your preference.

    Expert Tips

1.Adjust to Taste:You might prefer a little more or less cinnamon. Adjust according to your palate. 2.Store Correctly: Keep your cinnamon sugar in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. This preserves the aroma and prevents moisture from clumping the mixture. 3.Experiment with Sugars: While white granulated sugar is standard, try blending cinnamon with brown sugar or raw sugar for a deeper, more caramelized flavor profile. 4.Freshness Check: Cinnamon can lose its potency over time. If your stored cinnamon doesn’t have a strong aroma when you open the jar, it might be time for a new batch.

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 ½ to 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon adjust to taste

    Instructions

    • In a small bowl, combine ½ cup of granulated sugar and 1 ½ tablespoons of ground cinnamon.
    • Taste the cinnamon sugar mixture and, if you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor, you can add an additional ½ tablespoon of ground cinnamon (for a total of 2 tablespoons). Adjust according to your taste.
    • Use a spoon or whisk to thoroughly mix the sugar and cinnamon until they are well combined.
    • Ensure that there are no clumps, and the cinnamon is evenly distributed.
    • Your homemade cinnamon sugar is ready to use! You can store it in an airtight container for later use or use it immediately to sprinkle on toast, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, or any other dish that could benefit from a sweet and cinnamon touch.

    Notes

    • I normally buy organic granulated sugar and it has a much larger sugar crystal than traditional white sugar. For cinnamon and sugar, the smaller commercial white sugar distributes itself better and mixed better with the cinnamon.
    • There's lots of different kinds of cinnamons if you want to look into them for different flavors.
    • I like to keep and wash out an empty spice shaker to store my cinnamon and sugar in.
