Recipe FAQs
Canned artichoke hearts have a very distinct flavor. Their flavor is most often described as a combination of sweetness and a subtle nuttiness. While the flavor of artichokes is distinct and easily recognizable, it is not overbearing. As a result, it makes a great addition to recipes like dips in which you have a few ingredients working together.
If you are noticing clumps in your artichoke dip then it might not be thoroughly combined. It is important to make sure that the dip is smooth and homogenous before baking so that it maintains a creamy consistency. Using room temperature cream cheese will help prevent any clumps from forming in your artichoke dip.
If you are out of Italian seasoning then you can make your own by mixing together equal parts garlic salt, onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, and dried thyme.
Expert Tips
- We typically use the finely grated parmesan cheese that comes in a bottle, but you can use freshly grated parmesan cheese as well.
- Freshly shredded mozzarella cheese will melt down better than pre-shredded cheese because it does not have any sort of coating on it, but you are welcome to use either one.
- Leaving the dip uncovered in the oven will help give the dip a nice golden brown top.
- You can use an electric hand mixer to make combining the ingredients easier and cut down on your prep time.
How to Store Your Leftover Dip
While we recommend serving this dip fresh from the oven, you can store your leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. To store your dip, simply allow it to cool down before covering it with plastic wrap or tin foil. You can reheat the artichoke dip by throwing it in the oven for 20 minutes at 350°F.
You will want to make sure the dip is covered with tin foil to prevent the top from burning. It is important to note that your reheated dip might not be as creamy as it was the first time around and it may dry out a little bit as it reheats.
Serving Ideas
Our classic artichoke dip is the perfect appetizer or snack. You can’t go wrong serving this rich, creamy dip alongside a veggie platter. Carrots, celery, tomatoes, and broccoli all go great with this dip. Crackers are another great companion to this dip. My homemade crackers would provide a nice contrast to the creaminess of the dip.
One of our favorite ways to serve this dip is to toast some easy french bread or simple pita bread and use our artichoke dips as a spread. No matter how you choose to serve your dip, it is sure to be a hit!
