If you’re craving a juicy homemade burger, this simple Air Fryer Hamburger recipe is the right match for you! A perfectly cooked patty is served on a soft bun and garnished with your favorite toppings to make this quick and easy weeknight meal!

When you don’t have the time or the means to make a grilled burger, these air fryer hamburgers are the next best thing! In a matter of minutes, you’ll have a batch of rich, juicy burgers ready to be garnished and devoured. Using the air fryer to make these burgers speeds up the cooking time without jeopardizing any of the flavor. These simple, two ingredient patties will pair well with any bun and a wide array of burger toppings.

    Air Fryer Hamburgers

I love that this dish is simple and easy to make, yet adaptable to your preferences. Adjust the frying time by a minute or two to ensure that your burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

You can even add additional spices to your ground beef or top the hamburgers with cheese, veggies, and sauces. And because these juicy burgers are made right in your kitchen, you can now enjoy delicious homemade hamburgers year-round!

These hamburgers are amazing because all you need to do is cook the patties, then let your family build their perfect burger! You can add mayo, ketchup, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, or onions—the list of possible toppings goes on and on! I highly recommend serving this dish with a side of chips, French fries, or carrot and celery sticks for a more nutritional option!

    Ingredients

    • Ground Beef – Or ground turkey for a leaner option.
    • Steak Seasoning — Will bring out the flavor of your beef perfectly.
    • Burger Buns — Homemade or your favorite store-bought version.
    • Toppings — An optional garnish of ketchup, mayo, pickles, lettuce, and tomato can really jazz up these burgers!

    Recipe Instructions

    1. Using a large spoon or your hands, work the salt into the ground beef.
    2. Divide the beef into 4 equally sized balls. Press them into patties.
    3. Place the patties in the air fryer and cook, flipping them halfway through.
    4. Once the beef has reached your desired doneness, pull the burgers out of the air fryer.
    5. Top with desired toppings, serve, and enjoy!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Should you flip burgers in the air fryer?

It is a great idea to flip the patties while they are in the air fryer, about halfway through the cooking time. This will ensure that the air fryer hamburgers are cooked evenly and have a nice sear on all sides!

How do I know when my air fryer hamburgers are done cooking?

Depending on how cooked you like your meat, you may need to adjust your cooking times. The best way to know that your air fryer hamburgers are cooked to your desired doneness is to check the internal temperature with a thermometer. A well done burger will be about 160°F, medium well will be 155°F, medium will be 145°F, medium rare will be 135°F, and rare will be about 120°F.

Can you put foil in an air fryer?

While you can put tin foil in the air fryer, it is not recommended. A large blast of hot air flows through the bottom of the basket inside the air fryer to distribute heat. If this air flow is blocked or covered, it will affect how your patties are cooked.

How to Store and Serve Air Fryer Burgers

These hamburgers will store well in the fridge for up to 2 days. When you are ready to enjoy them again, you can simply reheat them in the microwave and serve them with your favorite burger toppings!

How to Make Juicy Hamburgers Without an Air Fryer

If you don’t have an air fryer and don’t have time to start up the grill, there’s no need to worry! You can still enjoy these tasty burgers by baking them in the oven. To do this, prep your meat as explained above, then place the patties on a lined baking sheet. Bake them in the oven at 425°F for 15 minutes, or until they’re cooked to your desired temperature. Pop the finished patties onto your burger buns, garnish, and enjoy!

    Expert Tips and Tricks

    • If you are a cheese lover, feel free to top these air fryer hamburgers with a slice of cheddar or Swiss cheese right after they come out of the air fryer. The heat from the burgers will perfectly melt the cheese!
    • Want to add a little kick to these air fryer hamburgers? Try mixing up what spices you use! I like seasoning the ground beef with a garlic and herb steak seasoning.
    • For perfect, evenly cooked burgers, you can press your thumb slightly into the center of each patty before placing them in the air fryer. This will prevent them from swelling in the center while cooking.
    • You can use any type of ground beef in this recipe, but I particularly like 90/10 or 85/15 beef. Each of these blends will give you a juicy, but not too greasy burger.
