Easy French  Toast Recipe

This French toast recipe is an easy take on the classic breakfast meal and makes the perfect crusty, golden-brown toast to slather with butter, syrup, fruit, or your choice of toppings.

Let’s get started!

01

Preheat a large cast iron skillet or griddle over medium heat. Slice your French bread into 1-inch thick pieces.

02

In a wide, flat container (like a tupperware or a pie plate), add the eggs and the milk. Whisk very well with a fork to break up the eggs and combine well.

03

Add the vanilla, and whisk with a fork to combine. Spray your cooking surface with cooking spray, or grease well with butter.

04

Use the fork to dip one side of the sliced bread into the egg mixture, and then quickly flip it over to coat the second side. Quickly remove from the egg mixture, and place it in the hot skillet.

05

Let the French toast cook on one side until it is golden-brown, about 2 minutes. Flip the French toast over, and cook on the other side until it is golden-brown, about another 2 minutes.

06

When both sides are golden-brown, remove from the skillet and place on a wire rack set in a rimmed baking sheet. Set the baking sheet in a 200 degree F. oven to keep warm.

07

Repeat with remaining bread, working in batches, until all of the toast is cooked. Serve the warm French toast with your choice of toppings, like butter, syrup, whipped cream, fresh berries, powdered sugar, or even jam.
