No doubt about it that I love a good camp out. I enjoy being gathered around a bonfire late into the evening with friends and family. One of my favorite parts of summer is camping and making this iconic camping dessert.

However, sometimes I get the itch for a graham cracker piled with melty marshmallow and chocolate and I’m not about to go camping to JUST to satisfy that craving. Total dilemma…until now! Once I discovered making s’mores in the air fryer it’s been a total game changer. S’mores are a quick treat to whip up and only take a few minutes to make. Clean up is a total breeze too!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Quick and Easy: It doesn’t get much easier than toasting your smores in the air fryer!
  • Year-Round Enjoyment: You can enjoy s’mores any time of the year, regardless of the weather.
  • Minimal Cleanup: One of the best parts of using the air fryer is the simple clean up.

Ingredients

  • Graham Crackers
  • Marshmallows: the large kind, not mini marshmallows
  • Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar

See the recipe card below for full information on ingredients and quantities

How to Make Air Fryer S’mores

Step #1. Place the graham cracker halves in the basket of the air fryer. Top two with marshmallows and two with chocolate pieces.

Step #3. Carefully remove from the air fryer and top marshmallow halves with chocolate halves.

Step #2. Air Fry for 1-3 minutes or until the marshmallows are browned and warmed.

Step #4. Eat while warm and melty.

What marshmallows should I use for making Air Fryer S’mores?

Any marshmallow will work, just don’t use mini marshmallows, the air fryer kind of blows them all over and it didn’t work well. I usually use the traditional large marshmallow size but you can use the square version specifically made for s’mores as well.

What chocolate is best for s’mores?

If you are looking for a traditional tasting s’more then go with a milk chocolate Hershey bar. Milk chocolate melts easier than dark chocolate. Reese’s Peanut Cups are also a popular choice for s’mores.

When was a S’more invented?

According to Wikipedia, the first s’more recipe was found in a Girl Scout cookbook in 1927. It was titled Some More. Interesting little tidbit for you.

Expert Tips

  • Cut the marshmallows in half and place sticky side down on top of the graham cracker. This will ensure that the marshmallow doesn’t get blown off the cracker during cook time.
  • For extra easy clean up, use some parchment or a silicon mat under the graham crackers.
  • Try different kinds of candy bars! So many of them are delicious in a s’more.
  • Use fresh marshmallows. You’ll get the best results from them because they will get gooey more easily.

Instructions

  • Place the 4 graham cracker halves in the bottom of your air fryer basket. Place a marshmallow on top of two and chocolate on top of two.
  • Air fry at 375 degrees F. for 1-3 minutes or until the marshmallow is warm and lightly browned.
  • Carefully remove from the air fryer and place one graham cracker with chocolate on top of one graham cracker with a marshmallow to make a sandwich. Repeat with other pieces.
  • Enjoy right away.

Notes

  • I’ve tested a few air fryers and some seem to blow air inside them more than others. If your air fryer keeps blowing the marshmallow off of the graham crackers, here’s how to solve that issue: air fry the chocolate for 1 minute until melty and then stick the marshmallow on top of the chocolate and heat an additional 1-2 minutes. The melty chocolate can help the marshmallow stay on the graham cracker if you are running into the issue of it getting blown off.
  • You can also cut the marshmallow in half and stick the sticky sides down onto the graham cracker to prevent them from moving aroud.
  • Feel free to use the type of chocolate and marshmallows that you like and have on hand. We’ve even used other candy like Reese’s cups with great success.
