Happy Saturday. Here is a little recipe that comes together in no time and you’ll be able to enjoy them now while you prep for your Sunday! I love cheater recipes!
These Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are so easy! You simply start with a cake mix and add a few more things! That’s why they have “cheater” in the name…they practically make themselves. Not only do they come together in a hurry, but they are so good! They stay soft and moist. Don’t be nervous about the cake mix…they aren’t cakey in flavor when you are done.
I just love quick and easy cake mix recipes now and again. Don’t you? I bust these out when Thomas comes home from work at 6pm and wants a treat to take to Scouts at 7pm. Seriously. So easy.
Cheater Cake Mix Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
Adopted from Taste of Home
1 package yellow cake mix
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup water
2 cups chocolate chips, divided
1 T. shortening
In a mixing bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips. Spread into a greased 9×13 pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until light brown. Melt shortening and the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips in the microwave; drizzle over the top (or just spread it if you are lazy). Cut into bars and enjoy!
