Recipe FAQs
Absolutely! It is important to note that if you are using fresh mangos then your drink will not get as thick as when using frozen mangos. You can either throw them in the freezer for about 2 hours, or go ahead and use your freshly diced mango. Either way your lassi will taste amazing!
One of the best things about this recipe is how easy it is to customize. If you like your smoothie on the runny side then you can add a splash of extra milk. I recommend starting with an extra 3-4 tablespoons and then going up from there as needed. Likewise, you can thicken your lassi if you want to use it for a smoothie bowl by adding extra frozen mango ½ cup at a time.
Adding some warm spices is a great way to add extra flavor to this drink and compliment the sweetness of the mango. Try adding a teaspoon of cinnamon, cloves, or nutmeg. You can also sprinkle some cinnamon on top of your drink.
Expert Tips
- This delicious drink doesn’t save or store well, unfortunately, so we recommend only preparing what you are going to drink.
- If you don’t have plain Greek yogurt or vanilla extract, you can replace the yogurt and vanilla with ¾ cup of vanilla flavored Greek yogurt. You can also use regular yogurt in a pinch.
- Starting on a low blender speed and working up to a high speed will help ensure the ingredients are fully combined and you don’t end up with clumps of frozen mango in your drink.
- Diced mangos can be found in the freezer section of most grocery stores.
- There is no need to thaw your frozen mangos before throwing them in the blender. They will help thicken the lassi when frozen.
