Sometimes life calls for something bigger than your average cookie, so I created this Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe. Whether you’re going through a tough transition, celebrating a special moment, or simply craving an indulgent treat, these simple and comfortingly delicious cookies deliver exactly what your heart needs!

🍪 Born from a summer of preparation and change, this recipe transforms simple pantry ingredients into four magnificent chocolate chip cookies that are perfect for sharing – or not sharing, no judgment here!
My 2 Best Tips For Making This Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Don’t Skip the Cooling Time: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. This resting time helps them hold together so they don’t break when you’re eating them!
Mix Wet Ingredients Well: When mixing the wet ingredients and sugar you really want to mix well. A hand mixer or stand mixer will make this quick and easy! The mixture should look kind of like a cake batter at this point — that’s when you’ll know it’s mixed well enough to add the flour and baking soda.

🩷 Melissa
I worked on this recipe the summer of 2025 while we prepped out kids, lives, house, and hearts to move from our homes in Southern Utah to Vermont.
Sometimes you just need a giant cookie or 4 to feel better.
Making 4 huge cookies was quicker than a whole batch, more fun that normal cookies, and we just left them on the pan with a knife and cut into little pieces to eat.
It’s a delight that I highly recommend! And I hope if you are going through something hard you’ll find some joy in the little things, too.

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- ½ cup melted butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, stir together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla, and mix until fully combined. Really mix well at this stage so that it looks really smooth and like a batter.
- Stir in the baking soda and flour until a soft dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each into a large ball. Place them well spaced apart on the prepared baking sheet and gently flatten them slightly.
- Bake for 15–17 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers look just set.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5–10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm or store in an airtight container.
Notes
- You can switch up the chocolate chips for anything that you like or have on hand, such as milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate — or a combination of any of them.
- The melted butter makes whipping up this small batch of big cookies really easy. No mixer needed (though you can still use one)!
