Gummy worms and candy flowers for decorationoptional
Instructions
Start by preparing the Oreos. In a food processor, add the whole package of Oreos. Pulse until the cookies are finely crushed into crumbs. Alternatively, you can also place the cookies in a large ziplock bag and crush them using a rolling pin.
Take a 13x9 inch baking dish and spread half of the crushed Oreos evenly over the bottom. Reserve the remaining crumbs for the final layer.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the French vanilla pudding mix and the 3 cups of milk. Use a whisk to mix together until the pudding is smooth and well incorporated. Set aside.
In a separate, larger bowl, add the softened cream cheese and butter. It's crucial to ensure these ingredients are at room temperature for easy blending. Use an electric mixer on medium speed to cream together the cream cheese and butter until they are light and fluffy.
Gradually add the granulated sugar to the cream cheese and butter mixture, continuing to mix until all sugar is well incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
Next, add the thawed Cool Whip to the cream cheese mixture. Continue to use the electric mixer to blend everything together until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Carefully fold in the pudding mix that you set aside earlier. Stir gently until the pudding is evenly distributed throughout the cream cheese and Cool Whip mixture.
Pour this creamy mixture over the Oreo crumbs in the baking dish. Use a spatula to spread it out evenly, making sure to reach the corners of the dish.
Finally, sprinkle the remaining Oreo crumbs evenly over the top of the cream mixture. Pat them down gently with the back of a spoon.
If desired, decorate the top of the dessert with gummy worms to create a fun and playful appearance.
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until set, before serving. This dessert is best when served chilled.
Notes
Ingredient Temperature: Make sure the cream cheese and butter are at room temperature before you start. They will be much easier to mix and will create a smoother, creamier texture.
Crushing Oreos: To get a uniform texture, try to crush the Oreos as evenly as possible. If you don't have a food processor, using a rolling pin and a sealed bag can also achieve a good result. If you prefer a bit of crunch, you can leave some larger pieces.
Setting Time: It might be tempting to dig in right away, but giving the dessert time to set in the fridge is important. This allows the flavors to meld together and the consistency to firm up.
Decorating: Have fun with the decoration. The gummy worms are a playful touch, but you could also use other types of candy, or drizzle some chocolate or caramel sauce on top.
Servings: If you're serving this at a party, consider making individual servings. Layer the ingredients in clear plastic cups for a fun and easy-to-serve dessert.
Variations: You can change the flavor by using a different kind of pudding mix (like chocolate) or by adding in some extras like chocolate chips or chopped nuts for added texture.
