Lasagna Roll Ups are a delightful twist on the classic Italian dish that has captured the hearts and taste buds of food enthusiasts everywhere. These culinary gems combine all the flavors you love about lasagna but with a fun and individualized twist.
3 ½cupsmarinara sauce(or your favorite pasta sauce)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Cook your lasagna noodles, drain them, and pat them dry. Lay them out on a kitchen towel to prevent them from sticking to each other.
In a large bowl, stir together 2 ½ cups of mozzarella, ⅔ cup of parmesan, and all of the ricotta.
Use a spoon or spatula to spread the filling out over each of the lasagna noodles. Roll each lasagna noodle like you would a cinnamon roll.
Cover the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish in a thin layer of marinara sauce.
Add each of the lasagna roll-ups and cover with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle the top of the dish with the remaining cheese.
Cover the baking dish with tin foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven, take off the tin foil, and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes
If you want to add some protein to this dish, you can add a pound of cooked sausage or beef. Simply sprinkle it over cheese before rolling up your lasagna.
You can make your own Italian seasoning by combining equal parts parsley, oregano, and basil. You can also add some garlic and onion powder.
I like the flavor of fresh parmesan much more than prepackaged stuff, but both work great. Prepackaged cheese will melt a little different just because it is so finely grated.
Make sure you lay out your lasagna noodles after they finish cooking, otherwise they will stick together and tear when you try to separate them (I learned this the hard way).
You can store your leftovers for up to 4 days in the fridge. Simply cover your dish with plastic wrap or transfer the roll-ups to an airtight container. Reheat your leftovers in the microwave for about a minute, or until the middle is thoroughly warmed.
