Brown Gravy Recipe

Whether drizzled over mashed potatoes, poured onto a juicy steak, or smothered on a roast, brown gravy adds an extra dimension of richness and depth.

In a medium-sized pot, melt the butter over medium heat until completely melted. Once the butter has melted, add the flour to the pot. Whisk continuously until the flour is fully combined with the butter, creating a smooth mixture.


Slowly pour the beef broth into the pot while whisking continuously. Make sure to whisk well to ensure the flour mixture is fully dissolved in the liquid.


Add the garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and cornstarch to the pot. Whisk continuously to incorporate all the ingredients.


Keep whisking and cooking the mixture over medium heat until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency. 1. Taste the gravy and add salt and pepper as desired, adjusting the seasoning to your taste preferences.


Once the gravy has thickened and is seasoned to your liking, remove the pot from the heat.
