First things first, did you know that avocado is actually a fruit? They fit all of the criteria for being a berry because of the seed and pulp. The more you know! People are crazy about avocados and for good reason.

I like to serve guacamole on basically everything. Burgers, salads, sandwiches, and burritos. Guacamole doesn’t have to be just a dip with chips. The sky is the limit!

  • Guacamole is delicious with our without tomatoes, so if you don’t like them, leave them out!
  • Not a fan of cilantro? Try fresh parsley, or dill
  • Like the tomatoes, your guacamole will taste great too with or without the garlic
  • Instead of white onion, try red onions instead
  • If you need more spice than the jalapenos, add chilies
  • If the spice is too much, you can leave out the jalapeno
  • If you want it to be creamier, add sour cream or Greek yogurt

Frequently Asked Questions

How to pick the perfect avocado?

Picking the perfect avocado is important. They need to be the perfect ripeness, and you can check this by pressing gently on the outside of the avocado. You want there to be a little bit of give but still firm. If there is too much give the chances are good that the avocado is overly ripe.

How do I keep guacamole green when being stored?

Place the guacamole in an airtight container. Pat the guac down with a spoon so it is flat and smooth on top. Now add 1/2 inch of water to the top. Pop on the lid and place in the fridge. Now your guacamole will stay fresh and most of all GREEN! When you are ready to eat it again, simply drain off the excess water, stir and enjoy!

What do you eat guacamole with?

The standards is tortilla chips and it’s great in and on things like tacos and burritos. You can also use guacamole in salads, burritos or rice bowls as a dip for fresh vegetables or sweet potato chips, and you can even spread it on toasted bread for a flavorful avocado toast.
