Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Strawberry Banana Smoothie only requires a few ingredients and you can make it in under 5 minutes. Kids and adults will devour this super easy smoothie. A few key pointers will make the best smoothie possible. First, I like to use frozen fruit. It makes the smoothie extra cold and creamy. Plus, if you have too ripe of bananas you can freeze that and they work amazingly well in a smoothie.

If strawberries are in season you can use fresh fruit. I tend to buy extra when they are on sale so I can freeze some fruit of the winter months. If you use fresh fruit, I recommend putting in ice to the mixture so it has that cold, smoothie feel.

Another smoothie hack is to add the milk or coconut milk to the bottom of the blender first. Adding the liquid first will help all of the ingredients blend better together. This smoothie is also very flexible-you can add spinach, flax seed, peanut butter or other berries and it turns out so good every time!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to use frozen strawberries or can I use fresh?

You can use fresh, however the smoothie won’t be as thick and creamy or as cold.

Can I use frozen banana instead of fresh?

Yes, however this will make the smoothie thicker.

What type of coconut milk is recommended for this recipe?

Shelf stable coconut milk, in a can or carton, is recommended for this recipe, such as the Thai Kitchen brand.

Do I have to use coconut milk or can I use a different type, such as almond milk?

You may use whichever type of milk you prefer. Just note that different milks have different flavors and thickness. Almond milk is generally a lot thinner than coconut milk, mostly due to the difference in fat content, so know that this smoothie will not be as thick and creamy with almond milk.

Do you need to add ice to this smoothie?

No, the frozen strawberries will do the same thing as ice, except using frozen strawberries instead of ice, the smoothie won’t taste or feel like it’s watered down.
