In reply to Jeremy. I bet you were just a little heavy on the flour, you can add 1 tablespoon of milk if the dough is too thick next time!

Followed the recipe but for some reason the dough isn’t thick enough to roll, even when refrigerating. I’m not complaining because you can scoop them and they taste delicious! Wife’s favorite! But I’m just curious what I could be doing differently. Using Grandma’s molasses and weighing most of the ingredients. Any suggestions are welcome.

These were awesome cookies!
Easy to make. I ran out of molasses. Only had 1/2 cup. So I substituted 1/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup real maple syrup for the other 1/2 cup of molasses. “I” could taste the honey, but everyone else didn’t notice.
Great hit, Sunday school class decorated them!!

Thank you for this recipe! We make it with our kids and then they decorate all the cookies. This has been a Christmas tradition for the past 5 years or more.

I have received dozens of requests to make them again from family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. I enjoy baking what I love and I have stuck to this recipe for years!! In reply to Daniela R. You can just freeze it in a big ball and thaw it overnight in the fridge or it takes about 2 hours at room temp to be able to roll it out.
