At our house it’s an Easter Egg Hunt everyday 🙂 I can’t get them to lay where I want them to. Also, if I find old eggs, I put them in water. If they float off the bottom, even a little bit, I throw them away. If they float to the surface….. I throw them FAR away!

Richard aka “The Chicken Whisperer” seconded the idea to put golf balls where you want them to lay the eggs. That always what they did with his chickens.

Melissa, this is a lovely and super fun post. I love your chickens, and I hope your egg is yummy. Aaand, I am excited to hear about if you figure out how to get her to lay in the rightful spot. I’m not good with animals, so you are awesome 🙂

Also, if you don’t have a rooster, it’s safe to eat the eggs you found. Eggs don’t need to be refrigerated immediately and without a rooster, it won’t be fertilized. You can always candle it to check and make sure. Good luck!

Melissa, confine her to the coop for a few days and put golf balls in the nesting box where you want her to lay eggs!! She’ll think the golf balls are eggs and as the urge to lay comes on, she will hopefully realize that the nesting box is a great place to lay eggs.
